“Reading architecture”

28.09.18 Exhibition in The Museum of Moscow

In summer 2018 we spent 10 days in Koln, Essen, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Hamburg and Berlin and tried to visit all of the most well-known contemporary buildings in every city. The essence of the task was to learn how to “read” a building. For example, we had to understand the main idea of every building and come up with its logo, sketch its plan to analyze human flows inside it, feel the inner space and sketch a section, study the details of the building and understand how they contribute to the overall conception, sketch some outstanding features of the building and find pros and cons of the project. The results of this research were presented at the exhibition including sketches, photos, city maps, sections, schemes and texts from our sketchbooks.
